Mary Rowlandson, a Puritan writer was captured by the "savage" Indians and was basically held hostage by them for a period of time. After a while, she kind of got used to it, and I just thought this passage was funny. She was keepind chronicals of what happened during each "remove."

"Being very hungry, I had quickly eat up [my horses feet]; but the child could not bite it, it was so tough and sinewy, but lay sucking, gnawing, chewing, and slobbering it in the mouth and hand; then I took it of the child, and eat it myself; and savoury it was to my taste."

Lol.
