"Undulation"

I uncovered a firefly for
you
though come to think of it
I’m not sure it was one:
I really think
the wings were missing
or taken maybe;

drifting less like intentional
more like preposterous
late in the day.
or maybe it was too dark to see
exactly if the wings were
gone at all.

my memory is running away
(with a lot)
but I think I pulled
them off myself
or maybe you did.

either way I suppose.
right?
